dear japan: がんばってね!
Hm, I’m supposed to be doing work. I am now blogging (fo realsies) for the first time in months. Typical.
This world is so turbulent and frightening. I suppose the last decade has seen its fair share of natural disasters, and by no means am I trying to detract from the severity of those, but I guess none hit me so closely as this one. Maybe it’s the fact that I actually have relatives who live in various areas of Japan, and hearing about how they literally felt the tremors, and how my cousin was shipped back to China (literally, she took a boat from Osaka since it was impossible to get on a plane), was really a shock. Maybe it’s the fact that I had nothing to do at work yesterday and read about 20 articles about the nuclear crisis in Fukushima and the 200 (or 50? i keep hearing different versions) rotating workers who have sacrificed their health with so little hesitation. Maybe it’s the fact that I keep seeing videos like this one and I’m left absolutely heartbroken. Maybe it’s the fact that ridiculous comments about Pearl Harbor leave me seething. Regardless, this particular disaster is much closer to my heart than usual and I felt the need to vomit my emotions here.
I implore anyone who reads this to donate:

my last few days of doing nothing
I just ordered a new moleskine planner!!! I can’t wait for it to come in as it looks absolutely epic. It has the same appointment/time slot style as my old one, except that it’s a moleskine, so the paper quality and design is of course 10x better. Plus, it was on sale, so it was basically the same price as my last one. Yay. The simplest pleasures in life are the most satisfying. I do love a bargain!
In other news, I received my first invitation to a recruiting event this semester. It’s a little unnerving when all I feel is disgust and panic. I am actually considering changing my major…but I figure I should wait until after I do my internship this summer. I guess the sad part is that I don’t actually dislike accounting itself, I just can’t stand the people I have to be around. I’m not stupid. I just have a soul. Or rather, I grew a soul sometime in the last three years.
I just wish I had realized this sooner (like my first day of college when I decided that I hated 90% of the people at McCombs… why did I convince myself that I could survive this?!). It’s so much harder to justify veering off path completely when I’ve already trekked half of it. Soooo I don’t know. I’ll probably just end up graduating with this damn degree, get a job I hate, and go back to school. It’s cool, I’m young. Or maybe if I find the right type of accounting job, I’ll actually like it. I think I’ve probably just gotten lost in the crowd of hyper-competitive douchebags.
Anyway, I’ve become somewhat of an expert at gritting my teeth and bearing it. I can last a few more years. I hope.
In other other news, I am actually really happy. Haha. I’ll never take for granted good relationships ever again.
And I am obsessed with this Black and Yellow song. YEAH UHHUH YOU KNOW WHAT IT ISSSSSS ERRRYTHANG I DO, I DO IT BIGGGGGG.
Simple pleasures!
